Trump knocks polls after one shows 6-point drop in approval rating

In a pair of tweets, Trump cast doubt on the legitimacy of polls that showed him underwater or losing to potential Democratic challengers.

“Many of these polls are fixed, or worked in such a way that a certain candidate will look good or bad. Internal polling looks great, the best ever!” Trump tweeted.

The president ripped the ABC News/Washington Post poll as “the worst and most inaccurate poll of any taken prior to the 2016 Election” after a survey released earlier Tuesday morning showed his approval rating had dropped by six percentage points since June.

“It was a Fake Poll by two very bad and dangerous media outlets,” he tweeted.

An ABC News/Washington Post poll released Tuesday morning showed Trump’s approval rating dropped from 44 percent in June to 38 percent. Among registered voters, 40 percent approve of Trump while 55 percent disapprove, the poll found.

The poll also found Trump’s approval rating on his handling of the economy dropped from 51 percent in early July to 46 percent this month amid growing fears of a recession.
