A 14-year-old boy was tackled to the ground by a group of fellow students after he brandished a handgun during class at a high school in California on Tuesday.
The incident took place at La Habra High School yesterday morning at 9.35am during a metal shop class.
According to witnesses, the 14-year-old freshman, who has not been named because of his age, was showing off the gun to his classmates before he suddenly pointed it at one of them.
Though terrified, Dominic Carrillo and three other students ran towards the boy and wrestled him to the ground, seizing the gun from his hand.
‘I pick it up and I see that it’s a gun, and it has like a white handle,’ student Dominic Carrillo told KCAL. ‘It’s kind of small, so I was just like, ‘oh.’ So I jump up and I run, and I go to the desk and I put it down. And the teacher just didn’t know what to do.’
Police were called to La Habra High immediately afterwards and the boy was arrested.
