Open Forum – Canadian Election 2019

Today is the 43rd Canadian Federal Election. 

The purpose of this Post is to provide a place for a community discussion as the election as the results/news come in, without having to post a new article. We are doing this as a test run for the larger American 2020 primary and federal elections coming up in 2020

Global News will be providing live updates of the results once polls close. You can view those results here:

Polls are open across the country as follows (Time listed locally, poll closing Eastern Time is in italics)

  • Newfoundland: 8:30 a.m. – 8:30 p.m.  (9:00 p.m.)
  • Atlantic: 8:30 a.m. – 8:30 p.m.  (9:30 p.m.)
  • Eastern: 9:30 a.m. – 9:30 p.m.  (9:30 p.m.)
  • Central: 8:30 a.m. – 8:30 p.m. (9:30 p.m.)
  • Mountain: 7:30 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. (9:30 p.m.)
  • Pacific: 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. (10:00 p.m.)

To be eligible to vote you must:

  • Be a Canadian Citizen
  • Be at least 18 years old on October 21, 2019
  • Prove your identity and your address
