The earth we know teems with life forms, from the microscopic to the huge and we humans tend to believe that we are the finest and smartest of all. Where did all this life come from? Broadly there are two theories, the first being roughly divided into two parts (let’s keep this simple).
Theory A.
- After creating a universe many billions of years ago a creator created earth and shortly after seeded life which evolved (helped or not by the creator) into what we see today.
- 6000 (insert # of years) years ago Yahweh (insert name of god) created the earth and the heavens and everything in it just as we see it today.
Theory B.
Earth formed some 4.5 billion years ago and some millions of years after life formed spontaneously. Wikipedia says: While the details of this process are still unknown, the prevailing scientific hypothesis is that the transition from non-living to living entities was not a single event, but an evolutionary process of increasing complexity that involved molecular self-replication, self-assembly, autocatalysis, and the emergence of cell membranes.
Which is more likely?
That a god, which came about by unexplained means except that it existed outside space and time, created life on earth.
OR
Chemical reaction on a sphere still cooling and settling, where trillions of such reactions were happening every minute, produced a primitive life form and that evolution resulted in the myriad life forms we see today.
[The earliest known life-forms on Earth are putative fossilized microorganisms, found in hydrothermal vent precipitates, that may have lived as early as 4.28 billion years ago, relatively soon after the oceans formed 4.41 billion years ago, and not long after the formation of the Earth 4.54 billion years ago.
