At least 6 wounded in overnight shootings on South, West sides

At least six people were wounded since 6 p.m. Friday into Saturday morning in shootings on the South and West sides, Chicago police said.

The latest shooting happened about 3:30 a.m. Saturday in the Bronzeville neighborhood at 35th and State streets, police said. A 29-year-old man was walking when someone approached and shot him in the wrist.

The man got himself to Mercy Hospital and Medical Center, but was later taken to Stroger Hospital where he was listed in good condition, police said.

Shortly after 3 a.m., another 29-year-old man was shot on the West Side in the Austin neighborhood. That shooting happened in the 5600 block of West Division Street, police said.

The victim was walking when he heard shots, then felt pain. His friends dropped him off at Stroger Hospital with a gunshot wound to the right hand, police said.
