Joe Lieberman: Trump ‘Inappropriate,’ Not Impeachable

President Donald Trump’s actions with Ukraine might have been “inappropriate,” they were not impeachable, according to former Democratic Vice President-nominee Joe Lieberman.

“The call that President Trump made with President [Volodymyr] Zelenskiy of Ukraine was inappropriate, was wrong, it shouldn’t have been done,” Lieberman told The Blaze.

“But did it reach the point where we can say nine months before an election,” Lieberman said, adding, “that, if we keep him in office, he represents a danger to the country? I don’t think so.”

Democrats might have damaged their case for urgency by expediting the articles of impeachment before Christmas and then waiting about a month to deliver them to the Senate, showing they truly did not feel Trump was an imminent danger to the office.

“Leave it to the people in November,” Lieberman continued to The Blaze. “In other words, impeachment, as our framers intended, I believe was not meant to be punitive, to punish you either criminally or by taking you out of office.”
