Fear is an evil taskmaster

I’m really concerned about the fear and hysteria in the US about the coronavirus. What if the news media covered the yearly flu epidemic with such intensity as it is the coronavirus. Would we be hiding in our homes surrounded by toilet paper waiting for the end of the world?

The flu has already killed 10,000 across the US as world frets over coronavirus

Fear is an evil taskmaster. There’s no problem taking precautions during any viral spread i.e. handwashing, proper health habits like diet, etc. but as a country, we cannot live in fear.

The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear, and the oldest and strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown. H. P. Lovecraft

One isn’t necessarily born with courage, but one is born with potential. Without courage, we cannot practice any other virtue with consistency. We can’t be kind, true, merciful, generous, or honest. Maya Angelou

History, despite its wrenching pain, cannot be unlived, but if faced with courage, need not be lived again. Maya Angelou

There is no passion so contagious as that of fear. Michel de Montaigne

For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.  2 Timothy 1:7

I sought the Lord, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears. Psalm 34:4

Considering the fact that the fear and hysteria in the 1930s depression caused 40,000 suicides which is over 100 times the number of deaths in the US by the coronavirus could fear be considered a greater threat?
