Understanding Redeemed

In the Old Testament “redeem” means “act as a kinsman-redeemer; rescue, ransom.” After Adam and Eve sinned God severed relationship, therefore they needed to be redeemed. Since they already were (Rev 13:8 et al), they need only turn back to him.

So God opened up his redemption toolbox — the coats of skin for the guilty couple, the Ark for Noah, a staff for Moses, David’s sling, etc. And to renew relationship, God required sacrifices to cover men’s sins. The world groaned for a visible redeemer to vanquish sin.

‘Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son.’ Finally the Redeemer, ‘Jesus Christ come in the flesh,’ arrived on schedule to forever remove sin from the scene. God redeemed us because relationship is the worship he most desires. He desires you and me.

Are you prepared to meet God? If not,

Will you claim Christ your Redeemer?
