Well like many people, I spent most of yesterday diving into The Last of Us Part 2, a sequel to one of my favorite games of all time, and an experience I have been waiting years for. But between plot leaks, ripped cutscenes and controversy about certain characters, I knew a war was brewing, and one has indeed arrived.
While The Last of Us Part 2 has a best-games-of-the-generation level critics score of 95 on Metacritic, it is getting absurdly, obviously bombed in the user score department, where it sits at a 3.4 out of 10 with 24,400 reviews. For context, the entire lifespan of The Last of Us 1 generated just over 9000 user scores. It’s been 36 hours for The Last of Us Part 2.
So…what the hell is going on? Why are some people so mad about the game?
