Biblical Anomalies on Jesus’ Ancestry or Scribal Errors of Just Inventions

There are major biblical anomalies about Jesus, his family and ancestry that the Gentile scriptures force us to believe its version of events. Facts which are biblically and historically nonsensical. Irregularities that needs both the Old Testament (OT) and New Testament (NT) to be checked to see the confusion.  As both testaments are at odds with each other.

About the age of Joseph and Mary

On the matter of Joseph, the supposed father of Jesus, there are several accounts of Joseph’s death, according to various Christian blogs. You can pick and choose which account you want, I just took the first two, not because I am old or lazy, but because it gets confusing!

Under the heading (c) The Proper Sequence of the Two Narratives…As no mention is made of Joseph in the later parts of the Gospels where the Holy Family is referred to (compare Mt 12:46; Lu 8:19), it is commonly supposed that he died before the commencement of the public ministry of Christ.  https://www.internationalstandardbible.com/J/joseph-husband-of-mary.html

Under the heading 3. References in Apocryphal Literature…The History of Joseph the Carpenter (compare Hennecke, Handbuch der neutestamentlichen Apokryphen, 95-105). This contains an account of the death and burial of Joseph at the age of 110, and of the entreaties of Mary to Christ to save him. Its aim was to show forth Christ as the Saviour, even at the last hour, and the rightful manner of Christian death. Joseph has received a high place in the Calendar of the Roman Catholic Saints, his feast being celebrated on March 19.[Orr, James, M.A., D.D. General Editor. “Entry for ‘JOSEPH, HUSBAND OF MARY'”. “International Standard Bible Encyclopedia”. 1915.]

What is a supposed Judah tribesman with supposedly Davidic ancestry living in a territory that had been non-Jewish since 721 BCE? A land which was settled by foreigners! (Tribal people always stayed in tribal lands, this occurs throughout the inhabited world, the Americas, Europe, Asia, Africa and Oceania.) Yet, historically these settlers became non-Jewish proselytes at a later date—probably well after 348 BCE.

There were three main Jewish diasporas (disbursement or deportation with start and completion dates) the Assyrian in 733-721 BCE, Babylonian 599-583 BCE, and Roman 66 CE-135 CE, each one brought new settlers to replace the Israelites/Jews. However, the Roman diaspora does not concern this post.

Chronicle of the Last of Davidic Bloodline

840 BCE Queen Athaliah murders all the Royal heirs of David except the infant Joash aka Jehoash king of Judah, who was rescued. [2 Chronicles 22:10-23:15]

586 BCE The last of the Davidic bloodline king Zedekiah was taken captive to Babylon where he died and the monarchy was abolished after his death.

583 BCE This year the final deportation of Jews from Jerusalem and Judah was completed, with the last 4,600 Jews.[Jeremiah 52:30]

561 BCE This year Zedekaih died the last of the Davidic line of kings in Babylonian captivity.

On the Capture of Zedekiah

In the eleventh year of Zedekiah’s unfortunate reign, in the month of Tammuz, after a long siege, during which hunger and epidemics claimed countless victims in the besieged city, the walls of Jerusalem were breached by the enemy. The king fled through a tunnel that led from his palace beyond the city gates, but he was captured in the plains of Jericho, and brought before Nebuchadnezzar in Riblah. There, the king’s sons and many other Jewish princes were slain before Zedekiah’s eyes; then his eyes were put out, and he was led in chains to Babylon. https://www.chabad.org/library/article_cdo/aid/112328/jewish/Zedekiah.htm

The same year 561 BCE Jehoiachin the penultimate king of Judah was released from Babylonian imprisonment but stayed in exile living with the Babylonian king or under his patronage in the North of Babylon until his death. Jeremiah has this to say of him:

30 This is what the Lord says:

“Record this man as if childless,

a man who will not prosper in his lifetime,

for none of his offspring will prosper,

none will sit on the throne of David

or rule anymore in Judah.”—Jeremiah 22:30 NIV

Conclusion

According to Christian sources above, Joseph died at the age of 110 years, which would make his age at the nativity no less than 80 years. Mary would have been according to Jewish tradition 13 years old giving birth to Jesus. [Joachim Jeremias (1962), JERUSALEM in the Time of Jesus, Chapter XVIII, pp 363-5, Fortress Press, Philadelphia.]

We are led to believe NT that an old peasant carpenter with no official paperwork was able to claim Davidic bloodline from 1,000 years earlier for his supposed illegitimate son. Moreover, this Davidic lineage has gone extinct five-centuries earlier (see the last Davidic king above).

Where did Jesus live or call home? We have to rely on Luke 4:16 to say that Jesus came from Nazareth, most of the Bible just says home or house. However, Nazareth was not a Jewish settlement or region in the period. A trick question I hear, no, just historical and biblical facts. So it begs the question, whose Law did Jesus follow, and what temple was Jesus attacking the money lenders or supposedly teaching or reading in? 18 or more verses are crediting Jesus in a Temple. https://bible.knowing-jesus.com/topics/Christ-In-The-Temple
