President signs Hong Kong Autonomy Act and executive order stripping special treatment for Hong Kong
President Trump on Tuesday signed the Hong Kong Autonomy Act and issued an executive order ending special U.S. treatment that had been afforded to Hong Kong.
“Today I signed legislation and an executive order to hold China accountable for its oppressive actions against the people of Hong Kong,” the president said. “This law gives my administration powerful new tools to hold responsible the individuals and the entities involved in extinguishing Hong Kong’s freedom,” he said about the Hong Kong Autonomy Act.
