A British woman was hit with a five-month jail sentence for spitting blood at two police officers — shouting, “There’s your f—- corona!”— when they responded to her call about a domestic dispute, according to a report.
A drunken Carly Lane, 31, called police to her home in Rugby, Warwickshire, on April 17 because she said her former partner attacked her after he moved in during the coronavirus lockdown, the UK’s Metro reported.
Officers Chloe Norris and Sabrina Manzella were administering first aid to the woman, who had a deep cut on the forehead, and asked her who would care for her two kids when she went to the hospital, the outlet reported.
Lane then stormed out of the room, slammed the door behind her and injured her finger. She accused the cops of laughing at her and yelled at them to “get out of my f—- house!”
She then assaulted Norris and Manzella.
“The officers proceed to arrest her. She continues to be abusive and aggressive and is taken to the floor,” prosecutor Tariq Shakoor said.
“The defendant then shouts at the officers, ‘I swear, watch what I f—- do!’ and turns her head and spits saliva and blood towards the officers,” he said.
“Officer Manzella is hit in the face as the defendant says, ‘There’s your f— corona!’ and officer Norris can taste blood in her mouth,” Shakoor added.
Lane’s lawyer David Everett said she had a bad day that led to her buying some vodka, Metro reported.
Judge Andrew Lockhart blasted Lane for her vile and dangerous act.
“On the front line of the fight against that virus are the emergency services interacting with the public. They deserve, and will have, the timely protection of these courts,” Lockhart said.
“You had called those officers for help, and they were acting in the best interest of you and your children,” he said.
