GOP Governor: Trump Election Challenges Making U.S. Look Like a “Banana Republic”

More and more Republicans, just like the rest of the country, are growing tired of Donald Trump’s Don Quixote-like attempts to overturn the results of the presidential election. Sunday morning Maryland GOP Gov. Larry Hogan said out loud on CNN what most Republicans have been whispering in private.

“We used to go supervise elections around the world and we were the most respected country with respect to elections, but now we are beginning to look like we are a banana republic,” Hogan said. “It’s time for them to stop the nonsense. It just gets more bizarre every single day and, frankly, I’m embarrassed that more people in the party aren’t speaking up.”

Hogan added that he’s “confident that on Jan. 20 the President-elect will be sworn in. I thought the pressuring of the legislators to somehow change the outcome with electors was completely outrageous.”
