Today is the second day of the National Rifle Association’s (NRA) annual meeting, and weapons including firearms are prohibited while former president Donald Trump is speaking.
The U.S. Secret Service has issued a notice saying that any weapons, large bags and selfie sticks will be banned from the venue during Trump’s address on Friday afternoon .
On the webpage for the leadership forum event at which Trump will be speaking, the NRA says the US Secret Service will monitor for weapons and will have metal detectors—also known as magnetometers—”in place before entry. You will be subject to a search of your person and belongings.”
The notice also says there will be no place to store guns during the event, meaning attendees will have to leave their guns at home.
