President Joe Biden said Hurricane Ian may have been responsible for “substantial loss of life” and could end up being the deadliest storm in Florida history.
The reported death toll from the storm as of Thursday afternoon stands at seven, although the state of Florida has so far refused to officially comment on fatalities.
More than 2.5 million customers across Florida were without power Thursday morning after Ian walloped the state as one of the most powerful storms to ever hit the United States, causing widespread devastation and flooding that trapped residents in their homes.
