On Friday, janitors who work in Facebook’s Bay Area offices rallied outside a Meta store in Burlingame amid an ongoing strike.
Workers began their strike last week in response to mass layoffs by SBM Management, a service provider company that contracted with Meta earlier this year to handle their janitorial services.
Service Employees International Union-United Service Workers West, the union representing many striking janitors in Silicon Valley, said on Facebook that the layoffs of over 120 janitors has resulted in increased and excessive workloads for remaining employees.
