8-year-old girl shot in road-rage incident in Phoenix: cops

An 8-year-old girl is in critical condition following a bloody road-rage incident in Phoenix, in which she was shot while sitting in the backseat of a car, authorities said.

Police said the violent confrontation took place around 11 a.m. Thursday near 16th Street and Greenway Parkway.

An argument erupted between the male occupants of a Jeep Wrangler and a black sedan, which escalated to a physical fight after the men stepped out of their vehicles, AZFamily.com reported.

According to Phoenix police, the 28-year-old occupant of the sedan stabbed the 48-year-old Jeep driver multiple times before jumping back in his car and speeding away.

The man who was knifed also returned to his vehicle, pursued his attacker and allegedly shot into his car from behind.

As of Friday, no arrests or charges have been announced in connection with this case.
