A Massachusetts man was arraigned Monday after officials claim he cut near a woman’s eyes with a razor blade while she was unconscious, District Attorney Kevin Hayden said.
Ismail Mohamed, 40, was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery causing serious bodily injury, mayhem and kidnapping.
The district attorney’s office said officers responded to a call for an assault in the basement apartment of 87 Cambridge St. in Charlestown around 5:50 a.m. on Monday. The call, officials said, came from Mohamed.
“A large amount of blood was visible on a blanket and pillow also found on the floor,” the district attorney’s office said, adding the woman was disoriented and unable to open her eyes.
She also had severe bruising and swelling around both eyes, mouth and cheeks and multiple cuts above and below her eyelids, police said. She was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
