SC county council discuss options to recoup funds following visit by Donald Trump

County leaders are now deciding how to recoup the money spent.

Almost a month has passed since Trump’s visit to the city of Pickens, but city and county leaders are still feeling the ripple effects.

County leaders said they spent $30,000 for additional resources the day of the event. The city spent a little more than $10,000. However, was it needed?

“If you were to put this on a tabletop in a training thing for incident command, we probably by industry standards did not have enough,” city of Pickens police Chief Randle Beach said.

Some Pickens County council members believe money from the accommodation tax fund or ATAX fund should be shifted back to the agencies.
