Pascal’s Wager Fatal Failure: Faith Isn’t a Choice

Here’s the main problem with Pascal’s Wager: faith is not a choice.

I can no more choose to believe in God than I can choose to believe in Leprechauns, even if someone held a gun (Hell) to my head. Either I am convinced by something, or I’m not.

I can choose to read more about a certain faith and associate with its believers. I can also choose to pretend to believe in hopes ‘fake it until you make’ is philosophically real.

Two questions:

For people of faith – Could you choose to believe in another religion?

Why will God punish non-believers with eternal damnation (whatever that means), when they have no control?
