The rise of Roman Catholicism.

Hi

The Rise of Roman Catholicism!

In the year 380 CE, three belligerent Roman emperors chose Catholic Christianity as the new Roman state religion, outlawing its ancient pagan rites and other Christian sects. The three Roman emperors Theodosius, Valentinian, and Gratian threw their might behind the new religion. Decreeing: We authorise the followers of this law to assume the title Catholic Christians,” but as for the others, since in our judgement they are foolish madmen, we decree that they shall be branded with the ignominious name of heretics and shall not presume to give their conventicles the name of churches. They will suffer, in the first place, the chastisement of divine condemnation and, in the second, the punishment of our authority, in accordance with the will of heaven, which shall decide to inflict. extract from https://sourcebooks.fordham.edu/source/theodcodexvi.asp The highlights are mine. The last Roman emperor of the West, Romulus Augustulus, was deposed by the Germanic barbarian Odoacer in 476 AD, marking the end of the Western Roman Empire. This should have seen the end of Rome and the Catholic Church, which lost its backers and its mandate and the might of the Western Roman Empire to maintain order.

Yet, the Roman Church persisted without a mandate to rule the spiritual needs of the people. This, by the 8th century, had been achieved by fraudulent means, with the connivance of a reigning pope and his brother. By the mid-750s the Germanic Lombards had secured through conquest most of what is now northern Italy from the Byzantine Empire. In 752 CE Pope Stephen II (III) (752-757) and his brother Paul (Pope Paul I, 758-67) produced a counterfeit copy of a Roman Imperial decree, pertaining to Constantine I (306-337). Giving all the lands of the defunct Western Roman Empire to Pope Silvester I (314-31) for curing Emperor Constantine of leprosy. A decree that was found to be a forgery in 1440, which was used to fraudulently acquire the lands that became known as the Papal States (756-1870). Today Catholics from around the world mourn the passing of Pope Francis on what is a solemn day in the Christian calendar, Easter Monday. One would think that if there were a God, he would have waited for the passing of his Vicarius Christi on earth until after the resurrection of the only μονογενὴς θεός/Only Begotten God!
