Hi
The mythical tomb which gave rise to the resurrection, or the oldest source that Jesus was buried in a Grave!
The oldest sources, such as 1 Corinthians 15:4 dated to c.54 CE, states that Jesus was buried, and not placed in a tomb/cave with a large stone as an entrance door. So why the tomb, when all the oldest sources say different, that Jesus was buried in a grave straight after the crucifixion/execution. Even the scholar John Dominic Crossan in most of his works, maintains that Jesus was buried straight after the crucifixion, in a shallow grave to allow the wild dogs to feast on the remains of the crucified. And that all the people who knew Jesus, such as his disciples, had removed themselves from Jerusalem to stop them from receiving the same fate as their master. Crossan also states that the crucifixion of Jesus mirrored Deuteronomy 21:22-23, and the Temple scroll column 64, lines 11-13. That Jesus was buried in a grave, and not a tomb. That anyone who is hung on a tree is cursed by God!
The synoptic gospels also state that no one attended the crucifixion, not his mother, nor his siblings, and nor the disciples. The synoptic gospels Matthew 27:55-56; Mark 15:40-41; Luke 23:49 states that the women looked on from a distance! However, the Gospel of John tells of a different story, that everyone who knew Jesus was there standing at the foot of the cross, how could that be? The Roman would have cleared the area of those so-called lookers-on or witnesses.
The mythical gospels account, has the tomb of Jesus in several passages, describing how Joseph of Arimathea, a member of the Sanhedrin and a secret disciple of Jesus. Took Jesus’ body, wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, and placed it in his own new tomb cut out of rock after Jesus’ crucifixion. According to the Gospel of Matthew, Joseph rolled a large stone against the entrance of the tomb and went away. The Gospel of John adds that Nicodemus assisted Joseph, bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes to wrap the body according to Jewish customs. Sources. Matthew 27:29, Mark 15:46, Luke 23:53-55, John 19:38-42.
The older Pauline account of the crucifixion has no Joseph of Arimathea or a Nicodemus or a tomb with a large stone that closed off the entrance to stop any grave robbers. Instead, we have Paul’s account that Jesus body was crucified and placed in a grave, the Catholic scholar Crossan stated: If the Romans did not observe the Deuteronomic decree, Jesus’ dead body would have been left on the cross for the wild beasts. And his followers, who had fled, would know that. If the Romans did observe the decree, the soldiers would have made certain Jesus was dead and then buried him themselves as part of the job. [John Dominic Crossan (1994), Jesus: A Revolutionary Biography, pp 154, Harper Collins, San Francisco].
What do you say, was Jesus as the oldest sources claim the Jesus was buried in a Grave, or do you take the mythological stance that Jesus was entombed?
