Video Evidence Shows No Physical Altercation in Stabbing of Austin Metcalf

Video evidence shown to journalists reveals there was no apparent physical altercation before Karmelo Anthony stabbed Austin Metcalf to death at a school track meet, contradicting initial claims about the killing.

A journalist for DailyMail.comwatched a 40-minute surveillance video from the fateful day.

“The 40-minute surveillance video, recorded from a stationary camera on the opposite side of the football field, captures the 10 minutes leading up to the attack and the desperate efforts by Metcalf’s twin brother and others to save his life before paramedics arrived,” Maryann Martinez explains.

Until now, authorities had resisted releasing any footage of the stabbing, which took place at the beginning of April, and events leading up to it.

The journalists who viewed the footage did so under strict conditions: they were only allowed to take handwritten notes and were barred from capturing or republishing clips or stills from the incident.

The local police district says it allowed the footage to be viewed because the students’ identities are not clearly discernible.
