In Genesis 3, God says to not eat from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. Adam and Eve defy God and are cast out of paradise, allowing “original sin” to be passed down through the generations.
In Exodus 20, one of God’s commandments is “Thou shalt not kill.” By John 19, Jesus is put up for crucifixion and is put to death, thereby defying God’s commandment. This is ostensibly so that original sin can be cleansed.
Let’s have a thought experiment.
Let’s go back to Genesis 3. When God says to not eat from the Tree, Adam and Eve comply and never eat from the Tree. What happens?
Let’s go to John 19. When God said in Exodus 20 to not kill, Jesus is not crucified and is not put to death, complying with God’s commandment. What happens?
When I asked this earlier, I was told that we’d be “in a dark place” if we had follow God’s commandment.
So, my question is: Was it right or wrong to defy God’s will? What would’ve happened if our forebears had complied with God’s will?
