Megyn Kelly gets last laugh: ‘Turns out NBC loves blackface!’

Megyn Kelly is seizing on the opportunity to highlight the obvious hypocrisy of her former television network.

Kelly lost her gig as the host of NBC’s Megyn Kelly Today in January 2019 after creating a firestorm for saying on the air that she didn’t understand why it’s considered racist to dress in blackface for Halloween.

As she now points out, it seems that selective outrage was in play at NBC, however.

Notwithstanding her apology at the time, network execs and several of her colleagues declared that Kelly’s comments were unacceptable, and she was shown the door, although she allegedly left with her contract to the tune of $69 million paid in full.

“Since then NBC has been through a whole lot of problems, including #MeToo scandal and, more recently, people pointing out the multiple times the network has aired white people wearing blackface,” Mediaite explained.

In recent days, streaming services pulled past episodes of four NBC shows– Saturday Night Live, 30 Rock, Scrubs, and Community — for depicting blackface. Separately, a 2012 scene from the NBC hit The Office has been edited out.

Earlier this month, parenthetically, Netflix removed at least one episode of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia that featured characters in blackface even though fans pointed out that the script condemned the wearing of blackface.

Given the revelations about NBC, Megyn Kelly took to Twitter to perhaps take a victory lap and name names in the process.

“Turns out NBC loves blackface!,” the former host of The Kelly File on the Fox News Channel wrote.
