Saul of Tarsus (known by some as St. Paul) is the Creator of the notion of “Original Sin,” as we learn from Paul’s words in his epistle to the Romans:
Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned
–Romans 5:12
Questions
1. Since Paul never met Jesus, is it now time to credit Paul openly with the creation of the notion of Original Sin?
2. Is it now also to time to change this verse in Romans to reflect the truth of the Eden fable, by declaring “…as by one woman sin entered the world”?
Should Eve continue to be denied her agency in being the personage through whom “sin entered the world”? Why?
3. What motivates Paul to declare sin to have entered the world through “one man,” when it is self-evident from the Edenic fable that sin entered the world through Eve…a woman?
4. Do you consider Eve and Adam to be historical personages? What evidence are you able to offer, either for or against their historicity?
