Do Christians worship ‘the broken-hearted God’?

The God from the New Testament is described in several places as a parent. A parent who waits for their children, who have strayed, to return to them. A parent who wants nothing more than to love their children, and be loved in return.

But God’s children do not return the favour.

And so, God waits–perhaps eternally–with a broken heart, waiting for the children she still loves to come back to her.

Do you agree with this character description of the God Christians worship?
