Staffing shortages and rising COVID cases or exposures among students and teachers are prompting many school districts to extend virtual learning for another week.
Hundreds of schools across New Jersey temporarily switched to virtual learning following winter breaks or reduced hours to half days, as COVID cases continue to surge.
While many preemptively declared they’d stay remote for two weeks, a number of districts did so temporarily and planned to re-evaluate at the end of the week of Jan. 7. In many cases, an additional week of virtual learning was deemed necessary.
