A simple chyron error during a recent report by KPRC 2 reporter Brandon Walker has snowballed into an all-consuming identity conspiracy thanks to a would-be Internet sleuth.
WKMG News 6, a CBS affiliate news station based in Orlando, mistakenly ran a chyron banner displaying the Houston journalist’s name as “Walker Graham” as he reported from Buffalo, New York on Sunday. Apparently the story’s script was “slugged,” or labeled, as “Walker Graham,” noting the reporter’s last name and Graham Media Group, which owns WKMG News 6.
What began as a simple production error, however, was taken by one viewer to have the makings of a doppelgänger plot perpetuated by affiliated news stations.
So he just got two different names depending on the news station?
