Prosecutors asked a Texas jury Wednesday to consider the death penalty for Taylor Rene Parker, who was found guilty last week of murdering a pregnant woman and cutting her unborn baby from her body.
Parker, 29, was convicted of capital murder on Oct. 3 in the gruesome killing of Reagan Michelle Simmons-Hancock, 21, and her infant daughter in New Boston in Oct. 2020.
The verdict, reached in under an hour by a jury of six women and six men, came after three weeks of graphic testimony about how Parker crushed Simmons-Hancock’s skull with a hammer and stabbed her more than 100 times before removing her baby from her womb with a scalpel.
The infant was abducted by Parker, and later died.
