Kids Who Think They’re Trans Are Probably Just Going Through A ‘Phase’, Says NHS

Children who think they are trans are likely just going through a short-lived phase, the NHS has told doctors.

The health service last week released draft guidelines for treating children and young people with gender dysphoria – those who feel their gender is different from their gender.

Doctors should be open to ‘exploring all developmental options’ with young people who believe they are trans, but they should be aware that this could be a transient phase,” it says.

Health heads noted that in “most cases, gender incongruity does not persist into adolescence.”

According to the guideline, ‘social transition’ should no longer be seen as a ‘neutral act’ because of the significant effects it can have on a child’s psychology.

Social transition is when a person lives as a sex different from their biological sex, but does not take drugs to transition, such as controversial puberty blockers or hormones.

It may be that a person changes his name, pronouns and clothes to clothes related to his opposite sex. They can also use the bathrooms of their preferred identity instead of their biological gender.

Children considering gender switching could be discouraged from social transition, such as changing pronouns or dressing like the opposite sex, as the NHS proposes to turn its approach to gender identity assurance on its head.
