On Monday, dozens of Antifa-linked militants made their way to the Fulton County courthouse to be arraigned on Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) charges filed against them earlier this year in connection with the violent actions to “Stop Cop City,” the name given by militants to the new police training facility under construction just outside the Georgia capital.
While most walked, one suspect was spotted dancing gleefully into the courthouse to face the judge. James Marsicano, a trans-identified male who goes by Jamie, pranced towards the courthouse while an entourage of activist supporters followed close behind.
As the Daily Mail reports, Marsicano wore a black shirt and skirt with a grey cardigan and red scarf as he sashayed his way to the entrance. The activists held up signs calling for all the charges to be dropped.
In addition to the RICO charges, the 30-year-old is also one of nearly two dozen activists arrested and charged with domestic terrorism in March after allegedly taking part in an attack that saw rocks, bricks, Molotov cocktails, and fireworks launched at police officers on the construction site.
“We contend the 61 defendants together have conspired against the construction of the Atlanta public safety training center by conducting, coordinating, and organizing acts of violence, intimidation, and property destruction,” Georgia Attorney General Christopher Carr said. “As this indictment shows, looking the other way when violence occurs is not an option in Georgia.”
