New Biden ad blames Trump for overturning Roe

The ad features emotional testimony from a woman who had to travel out of state for an abortion.

President Joe Biden’s campaign is out with a new ad today featuring emotional testimony from a Texas woman who says she was forced to travel out state to get an abortion.

The woman, Dr. Austin Dennard, says she was forced to leave Texas to get an abortion after she learned during a routine ultrasound that her fetus had a fatal condition.

“In Texas, you are forced to carry that pregnancy. And that is because of Donald Trump overturning Roe v. Wade,” she says in the minute-long ad,” calling the decision to end her pregnancy “every woman’s worst nightmare,” and “absolutely unbearable.”

The ad comes as Biden’s campaign looks to ramp up its attacks against Trump, the current frontrunner in the GOP primary, and hammer messaging on abortion rights.

Biden has been poised to run on what’s expected to be the strongest abortion rights platform of any general election candidate as looks to win the first presidential race since Roe v. Wade was overturned in 2022.

Top Biden campaign officials have cited abortion rights as the number one issue for the president, but Biden himself has been more restrained in talking about the issue — describing himself as personally not “big on abortion” because of his Catholic faith. He has, however, said that Roe “got it right,” and his administration has slammed court rulings limiting abortion access and fought efforts to restrict the availability of abortion pills.
