When Elon Musk took over X (formerly Twitter), one of his biggest moves was to scrap the old verification system in favor of a subscription plan. It also introduced a new, gold check mark. Although the gold check is meant to denote an “official organization,” a Holocaust-denying, pro-Hitler account was able to pay for one.
The account, called “Defund Israel Now,” was created in November 2023 and currently boasts 35.6k followers. According to X, the account had a verified gold check since it joined the website. X offers two plans for verified organizations: Basic tier for $200 per month and Full Access tier for $1,000 per month.

While paying X for a gold verified checkmark, Defund Israel Now has claimed that “Jews control X.” It also posted an image that combined the X logo with the Star of David, and wrote “We should start calling this platform J for Jewish.” And on several occasions it has posted antisemiticcaricatures of Jewish people.
It also shares content from prominent antisemites, including Lucas Gage(formerly Angelo John Gage), Owen Benjamin, and Nick Fuentes.
