President Biden emphasized his administration’s efforts to combat crime and promote gun control measures following the tragic death of Laken Riley, allegedly killed by a non-U.S. citizen. Biden highlighted executive actions taken to curb illegal gun flow and the signing of significant gun safety legislation.
He expressed intentions to ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines in the future. Biden said, “I’ve taken more executive actions to stop the flow of illegal guns than any other administration in history. And we beat the NRA when I signed the most significant gun safety law in nearly 30 years.”
He added, “We’re going to finish the job. We’re going to ban ‘assault weapons’ and ‘high-capacity’ magazines’ next time around because it has to be done.” Despite the focus on gun control, the incident involving Riley’s death was linked to a non-U.S. citizen.
