Family members of vice presidential candidate JD Vance are not allowed to speak to members of the media, according to a report on social media.
“In Middletown for the JD Vance rally. Just met his mother and sister. They are not allowed to talk with the media today. They told me they are proud beyond words,” Mike Dardis, an anchor at Cincinnati’s WLWT, wrote in a post on X (formerly Twitter) alongside a picture of him and Vance’s family.
It is unclear who gave Vance’s mother and sister the directive or why they were told not to speak with reporters. Newsweek reached out to Vance and the Donald Trump campaign via email for comment.
