“Arguably the gayest Star Wars” show ever has been canceled, and fans are rejoicing like the Death Star just blew up

Star Wars fans finally have something to celebrate this week.

Disney’s Star Wars show The Acolyte has been canceled after only 1 season. I guess the “power of many” lesbian space witches didn’t work?

After a laughably bad season that trashed the lore and butchered the themes that made Star Wars such a beloved franchise to begin with, it appears to be over for The Acolyte.

The Acolyte could not sustain the momentum, dropping out of the Top 10 in Week 3 and staying off before returning at No. 10 after the release of the finale (335M minutes, believed to be the lowest for a Star Wars series finale).

Like fellow global streamers Netflix and Prime Video, Disney+ has a high viewership threshold for renewing high-end, big-budget series that cost well above $100M per season to make.

Already surrounded by a sea of bad Disney Star Wars releases, The Acolyte still managed to stand out as the worst-reviewed and lowest-rated Star Wars show released by Disney.

Deadline notes that the show tanked because of those evil fans/customers.

The Acolyte did OK with critics, with 78% on Rotten Tomatoes, but divided Star Wars fans, which was reflected in its overall viewership.

As of the moment, the show’s audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes has actually risen to a whopping 18%!

The show did, however, manage to snag the title of “gayest Star Wars ever.”
