ATLANTA – The deadliest school shooting in the United States as of June 21, 2024, was the Virginia Tech massacre. Thirty-two people were killed and 23 people were injured in that shooting. The next deadliest school shooting (based on fatalities) was the Sandy Hook Elementary massacre in Newtown, Connecticut, with 27 fatalities. There have been 416 school shootings since Columbine, according to The Washington Post.
