The Perversion of Christianity!

The Perversion of Christianity!

If you lived before the start of the Reformation (1521), and you were“not of the cloth.” These are the thing that you could not do: read a Bible, own or purchase a Bible, have in your possession a Bible that was written/printed other than in Latin, argue with a churchman, utter remarks about a bishop or a pope, and blaspheme.  Any of the above, you could pay for with your life!  Yet, we know from the early church synod of Elvira (c. 306) that the clergy had virtually carte blanche to sexually abuse children and the most vulnerable in our community, and get away with it.  We see this more than 1,700-year after the first recorded child sexual abuse, that the church is loathed to bring the guilty clerics to justice even in the 21st-century.  The church will smear the victims of abuse as the culprits, and the instigators, and allow the abusers basically to go scot-free!  By removing the offenders to other diocese, or smuggle them across borders.  Or even giving sanctuary in the Vatican.  A talent, honed, during and after WWII, when the Vatican Ratline gave sanctuary, and safe passage to German, and their allied war criminals.  With South America being one of the main destinations for these criminals did crimes against humanity.

Since the Reformation, Protestant Churches hold these paedophiles too, amongst their leaders, and pastors.

Take the defunct (2019) Jesus Army cult.
A scheme to compensate members of a defunct religious cult known as the Jesus Army has identified 539 alleged perpetrators of abuse, and revealed about one in six children had been sexually abused.  It is thought some of those accused, including 162 former leaders, may have taken up roles in different churches, and Northamptonshire Police is liaising with relevant local authorities to see if any safeguarding action is required.  The Jesus Fellowship Church, which disbanded in 2019 after the BBC revealed allegations of widespread child abuse, recruited thousands of people to live in close-knit, puritanical communities in Northamptonshire, London, and the Midlands.  The Jesus Fellowship Community Trust (JFCT), which has been winding up the group’s affairs, said it was sorry for “the severely detrimental impact” on people’s lives, and hoped the conclusion of the redress scheme would “provide an opportunity to look to the future” for all those affected during a 50-year period. Jesus army cult. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c0qejd0njpeo. Retrieved 13/09/2024.
Their war cry was: Jesus people—loving people.  We are not talking about cult member being in the millions, it appears the cult was a magnet for sexual abusers, and perish the thought of what else.  What do you say on any points in the post?
