Reasons why the Bible is a reliable source of information.
Multiple lines of evidence support the idea that the Bible is divinely inspired, including:
- Unity of the message
The Bible’s message is unified across a variety of authors, languages, places, genres, and time periods.
The Bible was written by about 40 men over a period of approximately 1,500 years:
- Authors from different backgrounds: The authors included shepherds, scribes, kings, prophets, a fisherman, and a tentmaker.
- Authors from different continents: The authors came from three continents.
- Authors writing in different languages: The authors wrote in Hebrew, Koine Greek, and Aramaic.
- Some authors writing more than one book: Some authors wrote more than one book of the Bible.
The Bible is a collection (library) of 66 books, which are divided into the Hebrew Scriptures (also known as the Old Testament) and the Christian Greek Scriptures (also known as the New Testament). The Bible offers categories and hierarchies that have made Western civilization the most powerful civilization in history.
Fulfilled prophecies
The Old Testament contains at least 191 prophecies about Jesus, which were all fulfilled in his life, death, resurrection, and ascension.
The probability of one person fulfilling all of the Bible’s prophecies by chance is mathematically impossible. Some say the odds are one in 10 to the power of 157, which is equivalent to winning 22 lotteries in a row. Others say the odds are even lower, less than one in 10 to the power of 100,000.
Some say that the intricate details and precise fulfillment of the prophecies point to a divine plan and purpose. Others say that the mathematics point to the fact that someone had to guide history over the last 4,000 years, and that God is the only logical choice.

Manuscript evidence
The New Testament has many manuscripts that are earlier, better-supported, and in greater numbers than manuscripts of other classical works.
Archaeological evidence
Archaeological findings support the history recorded in Scripture. Though many unbelievers throughout history have tried to find archaeological evidence to disprove what is recorded in the Bible, they have failed. It is easy to say that Scripture is untrue. Proving it to be untrue is another matter. In fact, it has not been done. In the past, every time the Bible contradicted a current “scientific” theory, the Bible was proven later to be true and the scientific theory wrong. A good example is Isaiah 40:22. All the while that science declared the earth to be flat, the Bible stated that God “sits on the circle [sphere] of the earth.”
Supposed errors in the Bible
You can pick any supposed errors in the Bible and if you Google it you’ll find out it was not an error. Some point out that the King James Bible declares that a bat is a bird but that’s just translators who were not trained in taxonomy so they have some flying animal that they plugged in the English word “bird” yet the Hebrew talks about a mammal with wings. And of course, a favorite place for atheists to go is the first chapter of Genesis claiming that the universe was not created 6000 years ago in six days. But that’s obvious by the language that’s used in Genesis because each of the six days is separated by evening and morning representing an intact solar system. This is simply an interpretation error that probably came out of the Catholic Church and thus it was just passed along and no one questioned it.
God’s purpose in writing the Bible was to communicate his word to people through human authors, and to inspire action:
- Communicate God’s word
The Bible is a way for God to communicate his word to people. The human authors of the Bible were “inspired” by God, meaning that they were moved by the Holy Spirit to write what God wanted said.
- Inspire action
The Bible is meant to inspire people to respond to God’s word and spirit. The Bible provides insights and revelation and often instructs people to write down what they have been shown.
- Teach people to fear God
The Bible is meant to teach people to fear God, and to receive his commands with gladness.
- Equip people to live for God
The Bible is meant to offer people life, truth, and the ability to live fully for God.
The Bible is considered to be indispensable for achieving God’s ultimate purpose. Without the Bible, there would be no saving knowledge of God, no faith, and no experience of forgiveness.
To put it simply, the Bible was written to explain man’s condition, how we got where were at, and our way out. It’s not a scientific textbook but when it talks about nature it is always been found to be correct. Atheists try to make a big deal out of the fact that science is changing but the Bible never does. Basically arithmetic is not changing 1 plus 1 equals 2 and that was true thousands of years ago and it still does today. Truth doesn’t change. Science is based on theories that are a dime a dozen so since they get most things wrong they have to keep up grading it moving towards a more correct understanding. But today’s science will be tomorrow’s wife’s tells.
If the fact that we have a universe out of nothing isn’t enough evidence for a creator what is?
Is the rejection of Scripture legitimate simply because it was an ancient book?
Is human suffering a legitimate argument against God given the fact that you could inflict suffering on another person?
