The Bad Faith Machine is the Enemy
If you had to choose a single dish to eat at every meal of every day for the next four years, would you prefer a sugary, ultra-processed breakfast cereal or hearty steak dinners with green vegetables and baked potatoes? This year’s presidential election boils down to a choice between a bowl of Fruit Loops and a T-bone steak dinner.
I’ll be the first to acknowledge that even though I really admire President Trump and think he was a great president in his first term, I can understand why others don’t like him. The fact is, when he was starring in The Apprentice, I didn’t like the show or him in it. As President, though, he was good flor all of us. The way he has stayed on track and i n the fight in spite of the hail of invective, law-fare and assassination threats is testament to his belief in what he is doing. I like his blunt honesty, directness and his obvious understanding of everyday people. Honesty? Yes, I know that he says some things that are untrue sometimes but most of these are what I would call Good Faith untruths. Some are salesman-like exaggerations born of his enthusiasm. Others are part of his indisputable gift for storytelling. The rest are things that he actually feels to be true because they accord with his deeply rooted instinct for success . He does not dance around things and he never says or does does anything in Bad Faith. I define Bad Faith as saying, writing or pretendind that you have one set of beliefs and then acting as if you believe something quite other.
I do believe that whatever is in his heart is what comes out of his mouth and drives his behavior. Like it or not, he gives you the Meat and Potatoes of his real views. His approach to life and running complex organizations has been a powerful and undeniable success because they bring success to others, upward mobility to those who work hard and a renewed sense of shared purpose to people like myselfwho for long felt unappreciated and even despised by the elites.
Against the meat and potatoes, we are offered the Ultra-processed, anti-nutritional Democrat slate of Kamala Harris (as smarmy and unidentifiable as a Froot Loop) and Tim Walz (noisy and phony as Cap’n Crunch).
Let me explain. Froot Loops and Cap’n Crunch are creations of two industrial giants (Kellogg’s and Quaker Oats) who have researched deeply into how to addict people to things like “sweetness”, “mouth-feel” and consistency. Then they process those things in along with additives and artificial colors and “refined” the natural aspects out. It’s Bad Faith to try to get children addicted to that kind of food while pretending that it is healthy. Their cereals are the very essence of ultra processed foods. They behave as if they believe they are healthy choices even though they know they are not. Remember Bad Faith? Saying you believe one thing and acting differently?
Democrats become candidates in a very similar process. The spelling of Froot Loops and Cap’n Crunch the tip-off and so is. The name “Democrat Party”.
The name “Democrat” party is a brazen subterfuge. They have, under that misleading name, become the least Democratic party we have. The recent coup against Joe Biden and his un-voted upon replacement by Kamala is only the latest in a string of manipulations that have thwarted the democratic process, stretching back through the time in the 2019 primaries Joe’s opponents were bullied and cajoled to stand down. Before that in 2015 Joe and Bernie were strong-armed out of the race in favor of Hilary.
The miss labeling is an admission of Bad Faith. Froot Loops, can’t be called Fruit Loops because they are only pretending to have any authentic resemblance to fruit. The pretense of “fruit” relies on “flavors, coloring and preservatives” listed on the box. Likewise, Harris is labeled a “Democrat” yet she is not a product of a democratic process. Her policy proposals are not democratic either. From day to day she espouses an bewildering kaleidoscope of contradictory and frequently flip-flopping positions that have ranged from anarchist (bailing out antifa rioters), to socialist (“re-imagine” the police and ban fracking) to conservative (the recent change to copying Trump’s build the wall” and “no tax on tips”), to the irrational (funding gender reassignment surgery for criminals and illegal immigrants. Moreover, she is putatively a politician yet she has never had enough appeal to her party’s voters to win a single presidential primary contest- not even in her home state of California!. There in not a soul within her party or outside of it who can clearly explain who she is or what she stands for. She has less authenticity as a politician than Froot Loops does as a genuine food.
