YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — Many people turned on their heater for the first time last week, but this week, they might flip the air conditioner back on. Conditions early this week will feel more like early September than late October, but will there be any high-temperature records?
Will there be record highs this week?
The daily record-high temperature at the Youngstown/Warren Regional Airport for the next two days is 80°F. The forecast high temperatures are 77°F and 78°F over the same two days, so the temperatures will be close to breaking a record.
The best chance of getting to the record will be on Tuesday when a strong south wind could push temperatures to the record. Right now, it appears unlikely that the records will be broken but it will certainly be something to watch.
Why will the temperatures be so warm?
The main reason that the Valley is going to experience these warm temperatures is a strong area of high pressure over the eastern United States. The high-pressure system is located to the south and east of Youngstown which means that the Valley receives southwesterly winds. This position moves warm air from the southern United States into the Valley.
