The pictured verse (this translation taken from the New American Standard Bible) has my vote for the worst verse in the Bible. The context of the verse is a chapter that begins:
“The LORD spoke to Moses on Mount Sinai, saying…”
The verse outlines what the Lord God Almighty supposedly said to [the fictional character] Moses and essentially laid out that race-based slavery was permissible… it’s not the verse that I would use to justify my accurate claim that the Bible has God “command for” such slavery… there are others that do that… but it’s a grotesque verse.
A few questions for y’all:
1. Did God say that?
2. What’s your vote (whether believer or not) for the worst verse in the Bible?
3. How could anybody with their head screwed on right claim that the Bible is a good source for morality?
