An Oregon school district is asking Texas Senator Ted Cruz’s election campaign to remove two ads targeting transgender teens, saying the two Oregonian students pictured in the ads never gave permission for the photos to be used – and that the girls in the photo don’t even identify as transgender.

The campaign ads are a target on Cruz’s opponent, Rep. Colin Allred, regarding his support for transgender policies.

Both ads include photos of various athletes that the ads claim are transgender women. One photo used in both ads depicts two minor girls, one of whom attends school in the Beaverton School District.

Beaverton School district states the parents of the minor girls did not give the Cruz campaign permission to use the picture.

Furthermore, the district adds that neither of the girls in the photo identify as transgender.

In an email sent to Cruz’s campaign regarding the ads, a school district representative asked the campaign that the ad “be pulled from any and all distribution platforms immediately.”
