As things sit, Harris and Trump are locked in a dead heat, tied across battleground states. Like you, I don’t know who is going to win. Yet while looking at key factors that could tip the scales, there are specific challenges Harris faces that might hold her back. These five reasons outline potential pitfalls for Harris.
- Economy: Perhaps most critically, Harris has not successfully convinced Americans she has a solid plan to fight inflation. Further, Americans do not seem to be clamoring for a more progressive income tax or increased spending.
- Immigration: Harris is the perceived “border czar”, and failed to deliver on that title. Whether or not she was the border czar is irrelevant; the perception is that she was border czar.
- DEI Nomination Path: Harris performed poorly in the 2020 nominating contest. She won the VP sweepstakes as a DEI hire, as illustrated by the fact that Amy Klobuchar was not selected. Despite Klobuchar having more experience in the Senate than Harris, getting more primary votes than Harris, and being from middle America, Klobuchar was white, so she wasn’t picked.
- Far-Left Policies: Harris is not forceful enough at separating herself from far left policies, including but not limited to the green new deal, defunding the police, canceling private insurance, path to citizenship for illegal immigrants, slavery reparations, tolerating Iran, and abandoning Israel.
- Intolerant Far-Left: Harris voters and supporters alienate undecided voters with nasty dispositions, insults, and too much ‘with us or against us’ attitude.
