Russia accused of trying to send ‘incendiary devices’ on US-bound planes, WSJ reports

Russian actors reportedly planned to send “incendiary devices” on planes bound for the United States, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Two devices were reportedly shipped via DHL as part of a sabotage campaign. Both devices ignited in July, one in Leipzig, Germany and the other in Birmingham, England.

Investigators told the outlet the devices were “electric massagers implanted with a magnesium-based flammable substance.” The devices were reportedly shipped as part of a “test run” to discover how to get them aboard planes headed for the U.S. and only “narrowly missed” being placed on DHL aircraft.

Sen. JD Vance, R-Ohio, last week cautioned Americans against overreacting after U.S. intelligence revealed Russia is to blame for election interference, including a fake video of mail-in ballots being destroyed.
