The Washington Commander team dropped its “Redskins” logo in 2020, following widespread protests against racial injustice. But now discussions have resurfaced about reviving the old elements of the NFL team’s former identity. The controversial logo featured the face of a Native man with two feathers and a long hair.
Many Redskins supporters have deep attachments to the team’s emblem, which is no secret. Inspired by Chief John Two Guns White Calf, it was developed by Blackfeet Nation chief Walter “Blackie” Wetzel.
