Phoenix Police and Fire responded to reports of gunfire at a restaurant within Terminal 4 outside of the security checkpoints around 9:40 p.m. on Wednesday.
Officers at the scene found three people who had been shot. One woman was taken to the hospital in life-threatening condition, and two men were hospitalized in stable, non-life-threatening condition, police said.
An initial investigation found that a group of people who knew each other were involved in a fight that led to one person firing a handgun that they had on them.
Arizona’s Family was on the scene just two hours after the shooting when an armed man arrived at the airport and was detained. Police say he heard talks of an “active shooter” at Sky Harbor and showed up with his own guns.
