The Trump administration is moving to keep some staffers at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention after telling them Friday that they were laid off.
The National Public Health Coalition, a group representing laid-off CDC employees, estimated 1,300 workers were cut on Friday, part of widespread layoffs in response to the government shutdown. The group said about 700 staffers were rehired on Saturday.
