A viral video appears to show an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent throwing pepper spray into a car that had a toddler inside.
Tricia McLaughlin, an assistant secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), wrote on X that no pepper spray had been used.
Newsweek has contacted DHS for comment via email outside regular working hours.
